Bangor is changing constantly. Big box stores abandon their older buildings only to build larger or "improved" stores within a couple of miles of their older ones. New buildings are built, and older buildings are turned into new stores. What affects people here is similar, in a lot of ways, to other areas in the United States. In a place where there aren't a lot of economic opportunities, retail jobs with lower pay and benefits are a larger part of the job market than they were before.
